Module 2 - The Patient’s Assessment

Course Information

Objectives:

The general objective of this module is:

  • Train students in the use of instruments to assess the nutritional status of patients with obesity and eating disorders (EDs)

Specific objectives:

  1. Know the methods and criteria used in the assessment of the nutritional status
  2. Apply, analyse, and interpret the anthropometric method
  3. Analyse and interpret clinical and biochemical indicators of nutritional status
  4. Apply and interpret dietary intake assessment methods

Estimated time:

  • 2 lecture hours + 2 seminar hours + 9 individual study and preparation of assignments, self-evaluation

Acquired competences

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:

  • Recognize diverse techniques and approaches in the nutritional assessment of patients with obesity and eating disorders
  • Apply, analyse, and interpret anthropometric, biochemical, clinical, and dietary parameters
