Module 1 - Essentials of Obesity and Eating Disorders

Theoretical Part

Objectives:

The general objective of this module is:

  • To introduce the topic of obesity and eating disorders to students, two complex multifactorial conditions that require a multidisciplinary approach

 

Specific objectives:

  • To present the essentials of obesity and eating disorders
  • To identify types, causes of obesity and EDs, their lifestyle, and etiology
  • To delineate misconceptions related to EDs and obesity

 

Estimated time :

  • 2 lecture/seminar hours + 9 individual hours of study/preparation of assignments, and evaluation

 

Acquired competences

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:

  • Distinguish between obesity and eating disorders in terms of causes, approach, and misconceptions
  • Identify and understand the triggers of obesity
  • Identify and understand the triggers of eating disorders
